What is the best way to educate yourself? I read as much as I can, which may or may not be enough. I’ve also been on a doc kick the last few years. I guess another way is making a lot of mistakes and then not feeling bad about them. I’ve been trying to get in the habit of welcoming my mistakes at the door, but that doesn’t always happen. If I’m presented with the opportunity to learn from someone, I’ll ask a million questions. I like asking questions. Which living person do you most admire? I don’t know, I can’t pick just one. On what occasion do you lie? Questionnaires. Do you google too much? I wikipedia too much. I’ve sat for hours at a time reading Wikipedia.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Well, at one point I was voted Most Talkative, so I assume all of them. Do you believe in world peace? While everyone has free will? Does the modern world impress you? Yes, absolutely. And, then sometimes it scares the shit out of me. In the event of a disaster, where would you go? I hope I’d have the physical ability to go anywhere. Is disappointment healthy? To quote Mr. Bill Watterson, “…it helps build character.” I definitely believe that. We all need to be grounded. I’m not sure I’d like to see a world where everyone got their way all the time. Is it healthy to meet your heroes? Sure.
When are you most aware you are aging? Most aware? A birthday maybe? Ultimate camera? Arri Alexa. And, then I’d rent it out. Most used camera? 5D, Pentax K1000. Are you satisfied with your level of physical strength? Sure. What do you think is the most plausible of the supernatural? That they intrigued and inspired Dan Aykroyd enough to write Ghostbusters. What is your nationality? I like to say Italian-American… but I’m American. What is it that interests you about photography? Making films. I’m lucky that I have two creative partners here in Brooklyn that I’m collaborating with constantly. I appreciate storytelling and imagery. Photography gives me the opportunity to go at it alone and then also work with others. Have you recently been living by any life philosophy? I’m trying to take it easy with the whole ingestion of so much information thing. TV, Netflix, the internet and whatever. A friend of mine made the suggestion of consuming healthy content the same way we consider the food we eat. I liked that. So, I’ve cut out shitty movies and stopped reading stupid things. It’s a waste of time and junk for your brain produces garbage.
What moment have you most wished you’d had a camera when you hadn’t? Maybe during high school. I know high school was a drag on a lot of people, but I was fortunate and had good friends. My Dad died suddenly during that time and there is a year there that I don’t really remember much of anything. I could’ve documented some of it. Make a prediction for the future. Larger, global fresh water wars. What essential life skills are schools neglecting to teach our children? Money. They teach us how to count it, but they definitely don’t teach us how to properly use it. Name one smell that triggers an abstract memory. Gasoline = time to get out there and cut the grass
