Friday Fry Up: Rahim Fortune

“Recently I completed a project titled “Feels like home” while returning to my home state of Texas after spending almost a year in New York city. Through this series I wanted to capture the visual aesthetic that can only be found in the region of Texas in which I was raised. The focus of this project was to show alternate narratives of rural southern life that often go unrepresented, I did this by capturing portraits of the people I met while working on the project as well as shots of the surrounding landscape that is distinct to the area. I also set out to capture the old way of slow southern life that is still present but has become abandoned as the US moves towards a dominant culture that puts less emphasis on agriculture and craftsmanship.” — Rahim Fortune
