Record: Typology of Photography

21.06.17

How and why do we categorise photographs and photographers? Documentary, art, commercial, self-taught, graduate and hobbyist, all boxes used to describe and conform images and their makers. How important are these definitions today and without them would we know where we belong? Join guest speakers Simone Rosenbauer, Lyndal Irons and Todd McMillan, as we delve inside the typology of photography.

With no division between invited speakers and the audience, Record is a new series of events presented by the Australian Centre for Photography designed to be audience-led. Register online, submit your question on the theme and participate in a night of round-table discussion. The event will be recorded and transcribed for the ACP’s online audiences to share in the discussion. RSVP on their website – acp.org.au

This event’s topic is inspired by our latest exhibition Shadows are cast by things and people, curated by The Heavy Collective, and is a unique opportunity to exchange ideas about photography, ask and answer questions with like-minded people. and enjoy some of the best beers and burgers in Sydney.
