This Friday we travel back through the archives of one of our favourite photographers Andrew Miksys and once again gaze at the glory that is Bingo. A Lithuanian transplant, Andrew grew up in Seattle where his father published a local Bingo appreciation paper aptly titled “Bingo Today”, a newsprint celebrating the folks, stories and glories of the local Bingo circuit. Perhaps an early archetype for his oeuvre, Andrew spent seven years and a good chunk of his twenties photographing Bingo halls right across The United States, and we think that it is red hot.
Although Bingo never turned into a book, Andrew is a staunch self publisher and has a tidy stack of titles under his belt. Stay tuned to his platforms for the release of his most recent effort Tulips due out sometime this year.
