Half spent but not all the way done, Daniel Cooney Fine Art Gallery are currently exhibiting a hefty catalogue of photos from the late Nina Leen. A Russian-Jewish immigrant, Leen left Europe for the U.S in 1939 to escape the Holocaust, she became a photojournalist for Life in 1940 and remained there until 1973. She boasts 50 covers for the magazine and left decades of amazing photographs in her wake. Although Leen enjoyed a long and valuable career, her name seemed to fade with her passing and it’s Daniel’s hope that “this exhibition will help bring Leen’s work to new light and the recognition that it deserves”.
