Have you recently been living by any life philosophy? Believing is seeing. What will baffle future generations about our day and age? The crazy diets we come up with. Are you aware of any conspiracies? Yes, but I don’t really pay attention to that stuff. What is it that interests you about photography? A photographs ability to expand our understanding of reality. What is the worst thing about city life? What’s good about it? What part of the planet would you like to explore? The Arctic Circle. What do you think is the most plausible of the supernatural? Everything. Pick a field of science to be an expert within. Cognitive Science. What moment have you most wished you’d had a camera when you hadn’t? I was hiking through a gorge in Kentucky and someone was burning a house-sized pile of brush. I always regretted not having my camera and can imagine how beautiful that photo could have been.

Choose a job you would be willing to do for free on the side. Ice cream tester. How often do you take other people’s advice? Too often. Describe a personal hell? Living in a room full of mosquitos. Which living person do you most admire? Rebecca Solnit. On what occasion do you lie? I’m not much of a liar, but I used to steal candy without remorse. What was the last crime you witnessed? I saw someone neglect to clean up their dog’s poop on a Brooklyn sidewalk and it made me so mad. I’m over it now though. What is the best way to educate yourself? Go exploring. And don’t be lazy. There’s just no time for that. What is the next book you want to read? Something by Carlos Castenada.

Most used camera? Mamiya 7ii What object do you want? A motor bike that I’m slightly too big for so that it’s not intimidating, you know? What object do you need? A garbage can for my bedroom. Are you satisfied with your level of physical strength? Yeah, pretty much. Pick an historic moment from the last hundred years to bring a camera to. I don’t know if this is considered an historic moment, but I have always wanted to see a total solar eclipse. Are impulses more important than consequences? Risks are invaluable even if they don’t pan out. Which talent would you most like to have? I’d like to be better at public speaking and grant writing so that I could get one someday, but I also wish I could just carry a tune.
